Yes it finally is finished with some much appreciated help from fellow quilters! And this is the first one ready before deadline date for me - WOW WEE!!! No I do not have my own heart block embellished, so thats DYOB #2 and #4 on the UFO pile!!! One of these days.

Yes I'm slow at posting and stitching again. BUT both blocks are ready waiting for stitches and luckily Margreet has picked the first two sets of stitches that I like to do so I've packed my threads and blocks and will work on them while at my CQing display tomorrow! Will see if I can catch up before Sunday's new stitches are called!!!

YEAH it is FINISHED!!! And will be mailed off Monday to Margreet! OK I've got the LADDERFLANELSTEEK, Basque, Tulip, and finally the Cast On Stitches along with some of my favourite ones: Feather, Daisy, Chain with Stem, and finally the Cretan Stitches, some with beads too.

Naturally I've included my simple Allison's Edging top right, some of my purchased laces and Bullion knots for a rose (bottom left) and paisley shape above the rose filled in with beads. And finished off with a brass butterfly over the pansies along with my crocheted heart attached with pearl beads.

I have all the required stitches done and am starting on the rest of the block. There's no beading or fancy stuff at this point. I learned a lot of things not to do. You should be able to click on the picture and get a close-up.

Here's a better look at the tree. It was a lot of fun to do, but I really needed to make it smaller, or else have a larger area to expand it. I notice this block is heavy with French Knots!

OK I tried for creativity on this stitch - one is simple and sort of delicate, the other was to be around a mirror but that did not work so I tried for "repetition" of the stitch within the patch, decreasing the size and also the thread thickness. Not sure it came out as planned.

I had intended just copying the samples from the Swap block but my fingers had different ideas, so I just followed along.

A Proper Cup stitch, I added more buttonholing to the bars

I added beads to the cup stitches and they now look better.

It's early Saturday morning and this is a picture of my DYOB in progress.As we have a workshop today and tomorrow I'm going to do the rest of the block on Sunday evening.Looking forward having some stitching houres in the end of this weekend.Next week I'm going to have some vacation days I really need as this time a year the days are warmer and brighter but at work we have a lot of work to do.So some houres of walking can do very much and of course some meetings with friends and family are something very very nice too.

PHEWIE, I just finished just in time this week.

BUT I can't take credit for this design using the cretan embroidery stitch, even though this is my favourite embellishing stitch, beaded or not, as it was an idea within "The Magic of Crazy Quilting" by J. Marsha Michler - my CQing bible that is now starting to fall apart from constant use!!! Then I added gold delica beads for stars to the sky. I've left the seam finish untouched at this time - maybe a future stitch will finish off there OR when all stitches are embellished then I'll choose something else to finish it off.

Okay I've finally finished the Chain of Hearts group DYOB second week's stitch on both my own heart block and the square block for swapping with a participating member.

Now onto the third week's "Cretan" stitch. This will be a challenge as you can see I used that stitch to weave the varigated cord through the Threaded Arrow St. So I'll have to get more creative me thinks! Hmmmm!

The first picture surprised me, as it looks nothing like I imagined it would. I used 7mm silk ribbon and wrapped loosely. The second seam has a sparkly fiber used for wrapping that looks a bit dull in the picture.

.Block 3 has stranded-cotton base, threaded with knitted gold thread. Lower row is done with variegated stranded thread (not DMC) and a Japanese cotton in lime green. Two rows of couched fine gold cord.
Block 2. has 6 strands of DMC orange stranded thread with a knitted variegated floss.

Threads used are 6 strands of green DMC rayon and 6 strands of variegated DMC stranded cotton. SRE silk Fargo roses

My block. There are two rows of Threaded Arrowstitch. I used a light twist cotton for the top, row and Edmar Nova for the smaller row with a variegated cotton for threading both. There is a row below of Palestrina and another of detached buttonhole. LOL it is upside down.

This my practise block. I used a cotton thread that has not much twist and lay 2 rows, then threaded them together, as one, with chiffon?? ribbon.
My camera batteries were flat so I used the scanner and the colours are not right.
