Faye Colwell's Naked Block

Well, here is another block... this one belongs to a new member to our group, Faye C.
Faye is very new to Crazy Stitching, so she has joined this DYB project, so that she may practice some seam treatments, along with others. Very interesting block Faye, look forward to see haw your embellish it...

My First Seam on block 01

Using pearl thread I sewed two rows of herringbone adding chain and cross stitch to the top row. I wasn't happy with it so added the flower sequin and centre bead. Think this will have to be my block so as to use it to practice. I'm used to free hand embroidery, it would probably of been neater if I had marked the fabric out.

Block of Alison (Threadgatherer)

Hi everyone - Here is my naked block ready to be embellished. My own block is in the same colours. I'm looking forward to seeing what you all do on your seams. Thanks Rosemary for your help.

First Seam Stitch

Hi Girls.
Hope you have your blocks ready. Our first seam treatment is
Herringbone stitch, easy, simple. But can have a completely different
look depending on thread, yarn or ribbon used or when stitched
stretched, condensed or double.

For tutorial have a look at
http://inaminuteago.com/stitchdict/stitch/herringbone.html

at the bottom of the page you will find

Double Herringbone Stitch version 1,
Double Herringbone Stitch version 2
Twisted Lattice band.

It's your choice as to if you want to add other stitches or beads to it.

Have fun, I'm hoping you will all inspire each other so please get
those pictures up on the photos file or blog.

Happy stitching

Faye's Naked Block

Oh Rosemary, I couldn't wait, I just had to put this up... You see this block is a part of "6" blocks, all of which have been embellished in another RR some 3 three years ago. (yeah! you read right 3 years ago - Hey, I'm not the UFO Queen of nothing). Anyway this is the one that I was supposed to embellish, and I have been waiting for this DYB project came along... I knew one would eventually LOL!!! So now I'm anxiously waiting for the 25th when the first lot of stitches are released for publication.

First DYOB starts

For this project we will be making our own working block/s in the
size we want, it's our choice as to how many blocks we make PLUS a
square (swap) block that includes a heart

Our blocks will be 5cm (2") larger then the finished size then
tacked around the block at what will be the seam line so we don't
embellish over it. This also allows for any distortion of the
finished square.

Every week for a period of 6 weeks we will be sent instructions for a
stitch, maybe 2 stitches, we may do as many or as few of the stitches
as we wish, one week we may be sent one stitch with instructions
to combine it with another. For two of the weeks we will be doing a
motif.

Our blocks are to be made by 22 th April (Wednesday}
The stitches will be sent on April 25th and May 2nd, 9th, 16th,
23rd, 30th.

On June the 6th we will know who we are sending our heart block to.
